Democrat secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban overwhelmingly won yesterday’s by-election in Surat Thani‘s Constituency 1, according to unofficial results.
Suthep wom with 149,458 votes while Pheu Thai Party’s candidate Worawut Wichaidit had only 21,956 votes.
About 12,000 voters abstained and there were 2,305 invalid ballot cards. The voter turnout was about 53 per cent. In advance voting on October 16 and 17, 7,255 votes were cast.
Suthep thanked his supporters said that he consider the result as continued support for the Democrat Party and the prime minister.
Pheu Thai MP Jatuporn Promphan said the party appreciated that its candidate Worawut Wichaidit had received more than 20,000 votes.
